The Opportunity

Springfield Science Museum envisioned a new experience for Tolman Hall that could engage visitors while preserving the gallery's flexibility for education programs and community events. Before the project could move forward, the museum also needed a compelling vision to support fundraising and grant applications.

Little Ray's Approach

Working alongside the museum team, we developed an exhibition centered on the story of Archosaurs—the evolutionary connection between birds, dinosaurs, and crocodiles.

Together we:

  • Created a flexible perimeter layout that preserved the gallery's multi-use function.

  • Developed four engaging character guides to make complex science approachable.

  • Combined authentic specimens with tactile experiences, immersive environments, and playful interpretation.

  • Produced concept renderings that helped transform an idea into a fundable vision.

The Partnership

From early concept sketches through installation, every decision was shaped through close collaboration. Together, we balanced storytelling, scientific integrity, operational needs, and visitor engagement to create an exhibition that will serve the museum for years to come.

"I feel energized and ready to get to work on our next projects!"
